It's time to train again!
May Training / Meeting Day: Saturday, May 12, 2007, 08:00 AM,
Henke Residence, 10447 - 55th St., Wapello, IA. Phone: 563-299-4435.
We have Homing Pigeons (NON-Shooters) and a few ducks for training. If you want shooting birds, you need to
arrange to bring them. Jeff and I will provide Brats, Hotdogs, and Buns for lunch. Please bring something to share
and your own beverages.
NOTE: The Ticks are out! Be sure to protect your dog(s) and yourself!
When you turn off Route 99 onto 114th Avenue, you will see a Road Closed sign. We have had water over the
road several time during the past few weeks. At the moment it is off 114th Ave. Even if there is water on the road,
it is NOT deep enough to prevent travel to our home.
July Training Clinic:
The Chapter will host a two day training clinic at the Henke residence on July 14 - 15, 2007.
The training will cover the proper introduction and application of an E-collar in training.
We are taking reservations now.
The cost is $75.00 for the weekend. Very reasonable. The class will be limited to 15 persons. Lunch will be
available for purchase each day or you may bring your own. If you are planning to attend, please send a

This is a great opportunity to learn and support your chapter.
Combine Chapters with Spoon River:
There is interest in combining Western Illinois and Spoon River Chapters of NAVHDA to bolster membership and
participation in each chapter and reduce expenses. Before the board meets with Spoon River board members we
would like to get feed back from our membership. The general idea would be to conduct two training days each
month, one in the Western Illinois area and one in the Spoon River area. Are you interested? Send your

Congratulations / Member News:
1. Ben Schnerre and Bekka vom Entenmoor ran a Natural Ability Test with the Hawkeye Chapter earning a
104 - Prize II. Ben also recently ran Bekka in a VJP's scoring 55 and 77.
2. Tom Whitmarsh and Jager vom Fuchsfluesschen ran a Natural Ability Test with the Hawkeye Chapter
earning a 89 - Prize III. Tom also ran Jager in a VJP scoring 69
3. Jeff Henke and Birke vom Entenmoor ran a VJP scoring 68.
4. Scott VanBlaircome and Braunbar vom Entenmoor ran a VJP scoring 72.
5. Several more 'B' litter vom Entenmoor puppies ran in VJP tests bringing in very good scores: Todd
McLester and Briska - VJP 62, Shea Birkey and Brahms - VJP 71, Chris Strabala and Bruno - VJP 69,
Blaine Hansen and Brixi - VJP 72, and Chad Ingersol and Burgl - VJP 68.
6. Kandi Kwirant and Bobbi Benson traveled to Virginia for the Spinone Club of America 2007 Specialty. It
was 12 days packed with travel, AKC hunt tests, NAVHDA tests, AKC conformation shows, and seminars.
7. Bobbi Benson was able to apprentice NAVHDA one day while in Virginia. Bobbi also entered Zeke in 4
days of AKC hunt tests in Virginia with Zeke earning 3 qualifying legs toward his AKC Junior Hunter title.
He was one point short on one test or he would have made it. Zeke also participated in 3 AKC
conformation shows in the Bred By Exhibitor class and earned 2 - 1sts and a 2nd. Pretty good for a dog
with no practice. Bobbi's boy JJ participated in Rally Novice Obedience and earned a leg toward his title
with a qualifying score of 87.
8. Jeff Henke ran Ebba vom Drostenberg (Ebbi) and Askan vom Entenmoor (Asko) in VDD BTR tests back in
February.Both dogs were successful.
9. Mike Murphy ran Camille in a DK Derby and received a Prize I.
10. Clayton Carver ran Cassie vom Keljer in a DK Derby and received a Prize I.
11. Josh Carver ran Cora vom James River in DK Derby and received a Prize I.
