Dear Western Illinois NAVHDA Members and Friends,
As if the summer hasn't been busy enough, now the testing season begins and we get to see if all the training
pays off. I have several things to report.
SEPTEMBER TRAINING DAY - MOCK TEST: DATE CHANGE
Due to testing conflicts, the September training day has been changed to :
Saturday, September 15, 2007.
The location will be the Henke residence, 10447 - 55 th Street, Wapello, IA.
We will begin at 8:00 AM.
Since the fall test will be held at this location, this training day will also be considered a mock test. It will be a
good opportunity for you to run your dog on the test grounds. Please contact Jeff Henke @ 563-299-4435 if you
plan to attend. We have homing pigeons available for training. I will plan meat and buns for lunch. Please bring
something to share plus your own beverages.
FALL TEST / OCTOBER 20-21, 2007:
Have you sent your entry form and check yet?
The entry fees are $95.00 for NA, $105 for UPT and $115 for UT. Do not hesitate to send your entry. There is
always a chance someone will cancel and a dog from the waiting list can be put in their place.
Here is the link to the 2007 test entry form: http://www.navhda.org/testentr07.pdf
The test is filling and we need to get our workers arranged. Currently we have entries for both NA and UT dogs.
The following are positions we need volunteers for on both days:
1. Field Marshall (To have next handler/dog ready. To have next event set up/ready. To keep gallery from
interfering)
2. Gunners (1 for each day NA to fire blanks - minimal walking) (2 for each day to shoot for Utility - walk the
entire field) (1 for each day to be diversion gunner for water - no walking required)
3. Bird Planters (2 each day - we will plan to use the Chuck Wagon to aid planters)
4. Duck Thrower (1 each day - need a good arm or be able to use thrower)
5. Judge Steward (Looks after food / beverage / gear / comfort needs of judges)
6. Food Organizer (Coordintes plans for lunch on the grounds)
7. Bird Dresser (Clean harvested birds so they do not go to waste)
Any and all help is appreciated. If you can help with any of these positions, please respond to Kandi
Kwirant at 563-263-8616 or spinnewf@machlink.com or Bobbi Benson at 309-337-7708 or
entenmoor@louisacomm.net as soon as possible.
It is important we all pull together to put on the best possible test for the handlers, dogs and judges.
