Western Illinois NAVHDA News – Volume 9, Issue 2 – February 2008

Dear Western Illinois NAVHDA Members and Friends,

The annual meeting was a great success. Twenty-six members and family attended and we all enjoyed a
variety of tasty foods. It is always fun to share this time together.

Our deep appreciation goes to Mike Murphy for hosting us again this year.

BUSINESS MEETING REPORT:

Officer Reports:

President Rich Runge - general discussion of NAVHDA training and testing and the future of the Chapter.

Vice-President/Training Director Jeff Henke – No report.

Treasurer Jim Crowder – Provided a financial statement showing income of $4905.00 and expenses of
$4533.20 for an increase of $371.80 added to the starting balance of $1040.51. That gives the Chapter a
current balance of $1412.31. The 2008 insurance has been paid.

Secretary Bobbi Benson – Reported the Western Illinois E-mail address book was lost from the computer.
It has been re-constructed but all attendees are encouraged to double-check the membership list
provided at the meeting to be sure all their information is correct.

Board Member Brian Lake – No Report

Webmaster Mark Gehrke – Requested members send any information and photos to him so he may
update the web site.

Old Business: Chapter equipment trailer. The old trailer is not worth the expense it will take to update it
and it is not really large enough to store chapter equipment. After discussion is was decided the chapter
should pursue purchasing a new 10 x 6 cargo trailer and that fund raising events should be held at each
meeting to help pay for the new trailer. The question of sponsorships was discussed with members being
willing to consider appropriate sponsors. Joe Nagle and other members will check with area dealers to get
an idea of what is available and the cost involved. It was decided a line item would be set to track the
money ear marked for the new trailer. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to take $500.00 of the
current chapter funds and place them in this fund. Additional ideas are to hold an auction of donated
items at the Fun Hunt and 50/50 drawings and Annie Oakley shoots at chapter training days.

New Business:

The members decided not to put on a spring test and encouraged members to help other area chapters
fill their spring tests.
The chapter will put in for a three-day fall test for October 3,4,5, 2008. We need to fly a judge in this year,
so the three-day test could help cover this additional expense.
The members are interested in conducting a two-day dog-training clinic again this year. We will see if we
can arrange for John Crozier to put one on in July.
