Dear Western Illinois NAVHDA Chapter Members and Friends,
As you can tell, I'm still trying to get fired by not putting out a newsletter! Seriously, the entire hunting/holiday
season has flown past and it is now time to get organized for the upcoming training year. I hope you all had
successful hunts and terrific Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year Holidays.
PRESIDENTs MESSAGE - RICH RUNGE:
Well the 07 hunting season is almost behind us, I hope everyone's hunting season was successful and your
best hunting buddies performed up to your expectations or as well you would have liked, we have trained and
tested and worked hard with our four legged friends and when it all boils down to is "Did we enjoy our time
afield" that's what it is all about, getting together with friends and enjoying the outdoors. I would like to hunt all
day with friends and my dogs than limit out early and have to cut the day short. I don't know about you all but
a point on a hen with a young dog holding steady is a great thrill for me.
We have the Annual wild game feed at Mike Murphy's once again. Thank you Mike for putting up with us for
another year, and we are going to be planning the upcoming years events sooooo get involved, let us know
what you are thinking so we can have a productive year training.
We are planning the Fun Hunt at For the Birds for March 8th so mark your Calenders, we are talking about
adding quail to the event to mix things up a bit also the weather may be conducive for all.

2008 ANNUAL MEETING:

This will be a potluck lunch so please bring a dish to share. Wildgame is great but so are side dishes and
desserts. Please bring your own beverages and table service.

This will be a planning meeting. Please be thinking about events you would like the chapter to conduct this
year, when and where you want us to conduct training days, do you want the chapter to put on a Spring or Fall
test, who is looking to test and what level, and what do you want to get out of the training days?
DUES ARE DUE - DEADLINE EXTENSION:
2008 Chapter dues are due now. Annual membership is still only $30.00, payable in January. The deadline is
normally January 31, but since the reminder is just now being sent, we will extend the deadline until February
29th (yes, it's Leap Year) If you pay before 2/29/08 your dues are only $25.00. Those folks who joined
late in 2007, you are considered paid through 12/31/2008. Please bring your payment to the annual meeting

FUN HUNT: The 2008 Fun Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2007 at Houtekier's For The

Costs and details will be finalized at the annual meeting. Last year entries had to be pre-paid so the birds
could be reserved and we set a rain date in case the weather was a problem. As soon as this information is

FALL 2007 TEST RESULTS:
Western Illinois Chapter held our fall test on October 20-21, 2007. We had a full test and great turn out of
members to help put it on. We would like to give our sincere Thank You to everyone who volunteered and
helped with the fields, gunning, water, bird planting, organization and meals. We really ate WELL!
We owe a special Thank You to Kandi Kwirant for serving as Test Secretary. It's a lot of work to keep track as
entries come and go and come again in addition to preparing all the judges cards, etc. We sincerely

Terry and Jan Huebbe's dog Vickie had 13 Drahthaar pups born Wednesday, January 16th. They have 4 girls

Jeff Henke's dog Ebba had a litter on October 24, 2007. There were 4 girls and 5 boys. We will be looking

Bobbi Benson's dog Ezza gave birth on December 6th to 5 healthy Spinoni. 2 girls and 3 boys. Mom and
